A GOOD .650 FLINTLOCK PRIVATE PURCHASE OFFICER'S OR VOLUNTEER'S PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1810, with round iron 9in. barrel signed 'LONDON', broad engraved band at breech, commercial London proofs, solid engraved top-tang, borderline engraved flat lock signed 'ASKEW' below the semi rain-proof pan, stepped and pointed tail engraved with a martial trophy and fitted with a sliding safe for the ring-necked cock, walnut full-stock, the butt swelling at the pommel and fitted with a brass cap with short rear tail, engraved brass furniture, captive iron stirrup ramrod, 15 1/2in. overall, weight approximately 2 1/2lbs.
